Sector-focused communities of Czech and Japanese business leaders, researchers, and institutions. Where shared expertise turns into shared advantage.
Expert Working Groups are Czech-Japan Hub's sector-focused communities — bringing together companies, universities, research institutions, and public-sector partners active in a shared field. Each Group is a trusted space where members exchange know-how and market intelligence, unlock collective access to regulators and major counterparts, and contribute to shaping the policies and standards that affect their sector in both countries.
Groups are not ad-hoc consortia or one-off projects. They are ongoing communities with a defined rhythm, an elected chair, and a membership base that deepens over time. Whether you're a Czech exporter looking for a foothold in Japan, a Japanese company building European partnerships, or a researcher seeking cross-border collaboration — your Expert Working Group is where the sector comes together.
Regular gatherings where members share market intelligence, trusted contacts, lessons learned, and best practices — the kind of insight you can't buy from a consultant. Closed-door conversations among peers who understand your sector from the inside.
As a group, you access doors that stay closed to individual companies. Joint meetings with Japanese ministries and industry associations, coordinated outreach to major corporations, and direct engagement with CzechInvest, JETRO, and prefectural governments. The group speaks with one voice.
Contribute to the regulations and standards that shape your sector. Joint position papers, formal consultations with government bodies, and participation in policy discussions in both countries. Expert Working Groups are how industry input reaches decision-makers.
Each Group meets several times per year — combining in-person gatherings in Prague, Ostrava, Tokyo, or Osaka with hybrid and online sessions. Physical meetings anchor the community; digital channels keep it alive between gatherings.
In our founding year 2026, each Group launches with a kick-off event; from 2027 onward, the full rhythm of 3 meetings per year applies.
Each Group is chaired by a senior representative elected from among its members — someone with standing in the sector and the capacity to drive direction. A dedicated Hub lead handles organisation, documentation, and continuity between meetings.
Participation is open to Hub members at qualifying tiers, with invited guests and specialist experts joining specific sessions as relevant.
Groups deliberately mix organisation types — lead industry partners, Czech and Japanese companies, universities and research institutions, public-sector partners, and individual experts. C-level executives, domain specialists, and researchers participate as the agenda requires.
Not every member attends every meeting — but the community stays coherent.

Our founding Groups reflect sectors where Czech-Japan potential is demonstrable today — through existing partnerships, regulatory alignment, and concrete projects initiated during EXPO 2025.
Sustainable materials, modular construction, and CLT technologies — aligned with Japan's decarbonization roadmap and the legacy of the Czech Pavilion at EXPO 2025.
IT, cybersecurity, nanofibers, laser and optical technologies, analytical instruments. A strategic pillar in the global push for supply chain resilience.
Czech craft products — wine, beer, healthy foods — meeting Japan's premium food and beverage market. Building "Czech Made" as a synonym for tradition with modern standards.
Production partners, cultural institutions, and creative agencies across both countries. Ensuring cultural projects carry business value and providing a single contact point for Czech-Japanese cultural and sport projects.
Our Groups roster will expand. A new Expert Working Group launches when at least five member organisations express concrete interest and a lead partner commits to chairing the first 12 months.
If your sector is missing and you'd like to help shape a founding community, get in touch. We're actively looking for lead partners in defence, energy, and life sciences — and open to proposals for other Czech-Japan verticals where member interest can be demonstrated.
Czech-Japan Hub establishes Expert Working Groups only where concrete member commitment exists. Groups are named broadly enough to attract firms across the sector's value chain — creating natural synergies rather than narrow technical silos. Every Group exists to deliver measurable sector-level outcomes, not just to hold meetings.
Expert Working Groups are accessible through Hub membership at Corporate tier and above. To join a specific Group, become a member and indicate your sector interest — the Group chair reviews and confirms participation. To propose a new sector Group or participate as an invited expert, get in touch.
